Responsibilities:
- Design and implement reverse genetics systems for multiple virus families.
- Lead virus stock production and QC testing for custom and catalog virus orders.
- Design and optimize molecular and virology assays (plaque assay, qPCR, RT-qPCR, genome sequencing, etc.).
- Develop and validate QC testing workflows for product releases.
- Analyze data and prepare reports for internal use and external customers.
- Provide technical oversight and training to lab technicians and student workers.
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment; support process improvements to enhance throughput and reproducibility.
- Uphold rigorous lab safety standards and biosafety protocols.
- Contribute towards the company’s R&D and product development strategy.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Virology or Molecular Biology.
- Candidates must have the capability and track record of designing and using viral reverse genetics systems and plasmids.
- Demonstrated experience with virus production (propagation, titration, molecular detection, etc.).
- Strong proficiency in standard molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning, sequencing workflows, nucleic acid extraction, etc.).
- Experience in assay development, validation, or biomanufacturing preferred.
- Strong data analysis, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a startup environment.
Benefits:
- Opportunity to lay the scientific foundation of a transformative company as an early employee, and to serve as a key contributor to the development of new technologies in the virology field.
- A work environment that prizes heterodox thinking and creativity.
- Competitive compensation and opportunities for career advancement.
