A postdoctoral position is available at the Emory University School of Medicine to join a laboratory that studies the mechanisms of enveloped virus entry into cells and its regulation by host factors. Our group combines molecular/cell biology, and quantitative microscopy techniques, such as single particle tracking and super-resolution imaging, to investigate the early steps of infection – membrane fusion, transport, and uncoating of viral core, as well as assembly and maturation of HIV-1. To gain ultrastructural insights into virus entry, we employ correlative light-electron microscopy (CLEM) techniques. A candidate will work with a collaborative interdisciplinary team on delineating the mechanism by which host factors block viral fusion. Highly motivated individuals holding a Ph.D. degree in biophysics, virology, cell biology, or related fields and having the knowledge of advanced microscopy techniques are encouraged to apply. Emory University provides excellent training and collaborative environment for research.
