Postdoctoral Position – Viral Immunology & Respiratory Virus Pathogenesis (Manicassamy Lab)

A postdoctoral position is available in the Manicassamy Laboratory, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, to investigate the viral and host determinants of respiratory virus-induced cytokine storm and immunopathology.

Our laboratory studies how interactions between respiratory viruses and the host immune system determine disease severity, with a particular interest in influenza viruses and antiviral immune responses.

The project will combine viral immunology, mouse models and genetics, cellular immunology, multicolor/spectral flow cytometry, and next-generation sequencing approaches to define the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying protective versus pathological immune responses during respiratory viral infection.

We are seeking a highly motivated Ph.D. with a strong background in viral immunology and expertise in cellular immunology and flow cytometry. Experience with respiratory viruses, NGS, and/or bioinformatics is desirable.
